2018 Mega Christmas Swap

Jennie Dietrich
This post was updated on .
1st - This is NOT in competition to the SUDSOL Holiday Catalog swap that will be soon announced.

2nd - I am opening this up to other demonstrators which are not on SUDSOL, IF we cannot fill it first with SUDSOL members.  So if you have downline or sisters who would enjoy this large swap, and you are certain that they will be able to complete the swap, then you might watch for when I open it up fully.

With the Holiday Catalog to be opened for ordering in the next few days and released today so that we could view it, seems like the right time to invite you all to participate in the 2018 Mega Christmas Swap:

Some of you will remember my “famous” Mega Christmas Card Swap.  The last one was in 2012 with more than 75 people participating in the swap.  For those that are new, it is open to EVERYONE (focused on demonstrators) and it is “mega”….  I will do only 1 round this year.  I don’t think I have the “ability” to manage multiple rounds as I have in years past, so respond quickly.  BUT read all the instructions below before you respond.

It is time to put together a GREAT collection of Christmas Cards to share with your customers and friends.  No one loves all the sets in the catalog, but there is always that customer out there whose taste in stamp sets doesn’t match yours, SO, let’s broaden our collections and have something for everyone.  This is a UNIQUE swap which I have hosted for many years.  You will get ONE card front of all the Christmas sets in the catalog.    GOAL: Something for everyone

SETS:        From the sets in the Christmas section of the catalog or holiday catalog (I have attached a complete list below); send an email with at least 3 you would like to try.  I will fill the sets on a first come first served basis.  I will let you know if all three of the sets you have selected are already taken and allow you to select again, but this swap fills very fast (this is my 10th year) and the best plan is to pick a unique set to use since fewer people are likely to select it.

RULES:
* The selected set must be used as the focal point.
* Each swap must be made of 100% SU materials that can be found in the current catalogs.
* Each swap must have at least two layers, prefer three.
* Each swap must be embellished with the use of at least one accessory.
* Each swap must come with the “recipe” for making it attached to the back
* Each swap must be inside a Ziploc bag (or two) in order to avoid damage in shipping.  They do not need to be individually placed in clear envelopes, but if you have lots of pieces which might snag on each other, this is advisable.

SWAP HOSTESS:
 Jennie Dietrich (512-699-5606)
SWAP ADDRESS: 9803 Lantana, San Antonio, Texas  78217
SWAP EMAIL: pfun_stampin@sbcglobal.net

REQUIREMENTS:
CARD FRONTS, ALL + 1 full card.  IF all sets are selected (as in years past) you are signing up to make 48 card fronts plus one full card.  The swap will NOT return to you one of your own card fronts.

The full card will be given to the local nursing home after I have scanned it.  The full card should NOT have the recipe attached, but please do put a copy inside so that I have it to enter the information.

POSTMARK DATE: September 8, 2018.  Items not postmarked by the 8th and/or not received by the swap out date will be returned to the sender. You must email the swap coordinator when you have mailed your swaps out. If you live in a rural area where mail moves slower, please allow plenty of time for it to be received.

SWAP OUT START: September 12, 2018.  A swap this large often takes more time to get swapped and packaged to be mailed back.  So don’t start looking for it prior to September 20th.

POSTAGE REQUIREMENTS:
* I will be using the US Postal Service PRIORITY Flat Rate envelopes.  History has taught me that this is the only way to go.
* If you are from Canada or other location, send your swap with the appropriate International envelope with the appropriate postage and customs forms already attached.
* Your swap MUST arrive with a priority flat rate stamp and appropriate address label for a flat rate PRIORITY envelope in a ziploc bag with the full card.
* With a swap this large, I can not stop to search for missing stamps but I will go to the post office and collect a large number of the envelopes so that you do not have to ship me a priority envelope.

OPEN TO OTHER DEMONSTRATORS: Yes

NOTES:  All of the card fronts submitted will be scanned for the SUDSOL sample database, so make sure to label your cards with your name and card recipe (stating ALL items used).  Otherwise I will be unable to give proper credit, given the size of the swap.

As always, please use demonstration quality work, with layers and embellishments.

Don't forget to email me with the set you selected at pfun_stampin@sbcglobal.net

SWAP EMAIL: [hidden email]

REQUIREMENTS: CARD FRONTS, ALL + 1 full card.

REQUIREMENTS: CARD FRONTS, ALL + 1 full card.

SWAP EMAIL: [hidden email]

REQUIREMENTS: CARD FRONTS, ALL + 1 full card.

Don't forget to email me with the set you selected at [hidden email]

"Rules" question

Blythe Klipple
In reply to this post by Jennie Dietrich
Jennie, does ‘recipe’ mean ‘ingredients’ or ingredients/supplies PLUS how-to steps.

Cards are done.  I just want to get this last step done and get my cards in the mail.  Whew.

Re: SU!: "Rules" question

Step by step is NOT required....

Just what you used to make the card.  I will sometimes include the technique if it is not obvious.

I've had a few ladies wondering - I wanted to let the "regular" swappers know that I asked Jennie to hostess this swap and was happy she said yes. I am out of town helping my Dad and can't manage the swap this time round. I am participating in this swap.  I'll be back home in mid-July and will hostess the next one.

YAY!!! The new catalog is LIVE... So let the ordering begin...

But as we begin to show off the new catalog to our customers and friends, it is really nice to have a card made from some of the new sets which the customers can hold in their hands or see with their eyes, rather than just the photos in the catalog.  That being the case... SUDSOL is hosting a swap of the NEW SETS in the 2021-22 catalog.  Here are the details.

Taking sign-ups now.  Email me at pfun_stampin@

SWAP NAME: SLB 2021 - 2022 Annual Catalog New Stamp Set Swap
SWAP HOSTESS: Jennie Dietrich
SWAP DATE: July 12th

REQUIREMENTS: This is for 2021 - 2022 Annual Catalog New Stamp Sets.
• You may use any current annual catalog stamps to coordinate with your chosen set.
• Use current SU! products only (no retired product).
• Ask me before you use any Non-SU! Embellishments.
• Demonstrator quality work with multiple layers and at least one embellishment preferred.
• Remember we want to showcase these to our customers and use them for ideas so please take your time and create something that you would be proud to display.
Cards must be labeled with your name and recipe (can be loose on paper inside of cello encased swaps).
• Consider putting your swaps in individual cellos - this protects embellishments during shipment. You can reuse cellos from previous swaps if they are in good shape.

Let me know which stamp sets you are willing to use - 3 choices is helpful. I may need to close sign ups on a particular stamp set if I get too many requests for that set.

I will confirm via email each person that has signed up and let them know their assigned set(s).  You will get timely updates/status reports etc. If you're unsure about your swap card, send a picture to the SUDSOL group or the swap coordinator for input, as we're all very willing to help improve each other’s cards.

THE COUNT: 10 +1 OR 20 +1 OR multiple different sets of 10 +1 (different designs). The +1's are mandatory and are sent to the SLB for SUDSOL RAK's (Random Acts of Kindness). I do not keep them.

This is a CARD FRONT swap, full cards are not required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Enclose your swaps in a large ziploc baggie, labeled with your name/address, swap name, and the quantity +1 cards that you have submitted. Please use a large ziplock baggie even if you put all your swaps in individual cello envelopes. Your return swaps may not all have cello envelopes.
• Each swap card needs to have the entire recipe along with the swappers name/contact info.
• Be sure you email me (pfun_stampin@ or click the link at the top of this message) which stamp set(s) you would like to use and how many you want to make. If you are unsure you can let me know after you decide. I may need to limit the number using a particular set, so choose your set as soon as possible. I generally allow up to 3 swappers using a particular set – but only 1 of them can do 20 +1 with that set.
• The Pre-Order sets can be used but I'd love to receive lots of samples from the sets that could not be preordered (that's why I've added a week to the swap time frame).
• The preferred size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Some ladies like to trim off a bit around the card front and layer it on a full card.  If the design you come up with can't easily be trimmed (like if you have ribbon wrapped around it or embellishments on the edge, please make your swap slightly smaller so it can be layered.

Please note, not all the swaps are “flat”.  If you have swaps that “perfectly” fit in your packaging, the returned swaps may NOT perfectly fit for the return trip.  Consider that many swappers use embellishments that make the swaps bulky.  If there is not sufficient space for shipping your return swaps, then your swaps may be compressed to get them to fit into your return envelope.  Just something to think about when you package your swap to me.   The padded priority flat rate envelopes are great for larger or bulky swaps but you can only get them online. I have a good supply of them for return swaps.

All cards submitted will be scanned for the SUDSOL website, so be sure to include your name and the card recipe with each swap.

POSTAGE REQUIREMENTS:
For your returned swaps, a pre-addressed shipping label is required and priority postage is preferred. (If you are sending me priority postage you don't need to send me the mailer - I get those free from the postal service). You can get padded priority mailers online. They are free but you need to order them and they can take over a week to arrive.  Regular Flat rate is $7.75 and the padded flat rate is $8.40 (as of today).

If not using priority mail, then a self-addressed, stamped mailer along with 2 extra first class stamps must be sent with your swap so that I can return the swap to you. Extra stamps will only be used if needed.

Please include the pre-filled customs form if required for the return swap.

POSTMARK DATE: July 7th. Items not postmarked by this DEADLINE will be returned to the sender unopened if they are not received by the swap-out date of July 12th. You must email me (pfun_stampin@)  when you have mailed your swaps out.

MAIL BACK DATE: July 14th. If they all arrive sooner, I'll swap them out sooner.
