? about the newer bigger TIFs

Darla Olson

Hello Sudsolers...

At my grand annual open house in August...I was posed a question...

"Why are these folders bigger?" ie the butterflies, the brick wall, etc.

Sad to say, I have no clue. Did SU! give a reason and I missed it?

Inquiring minds of customers want to know...

And I keep forgetting to ask...

Thanks so much!

RE: ? about the newer bigger TIFs

Brenda Crawshaw

I suspect it’s because people wanted to be able to orient the pattern in both directions on card fronts (vertical and horizontal).

Maria Pobre

It also sizes them to the same dimensions as our smaller Paper Stacks... allowing us to add texture to them as well. ☺️

I called about the Boughs and Berries to see why it was bigger and was told it was because SU is now global and other places make bigger cards. I do not have a problem with this except that this is a border EF and it chopped off too much of the design. I sent mine back and will be checking sizes in the future.

The bigger folders are great for embossing on a slight angle like with the butterflies , you can have them flying on an angle, also you can fit somethings like boxes etc.

RE: SU!: ? about the newer bigger TIFs

Phyllis Strickland
In reply to this post by Diane Gardner

It is not just the global market, the A4 size is an SU thing.  I assume it is to keep expenses down for workshops, classes, swaps etc. since you get twice as many cards out of 1 sheet of paper.

I stamped for a 6-7 years before SU and I never ever saw an A-4 size card at shows or in the many swaps I did on StampTalk, Oriental Art and other online Groups. They were 5x7, 5x5, 6x6, or long cards.  I almost gave up on SU because I found it very frustrating to cram my designs into that small space.  I still do, I am forever running out of space.  For my personal use,  I add layers to a quarter size card especially  for birthdays and special occasions.  I actually have been thinking about doing larger cards at my workshops and classes, too.

I am really glad they made this change!!  The smaller size is a tight fight if you want to do the whole card front, and I like the ability to emboss both directions.  It is very limiting when you can emboss only a vertical design.

One minus, I was told they don’t fit in the Cuttlebugs, but people really need to upgrade to Stampin’ Up! Big Shots anyhow. J

I don't have a problem making bigger cards but SU needs to sell bigger envelopes to go along with their bigger EF. If we are going to change then let's go all out.
