UPDATES: June 9, 2020: Weekly Updates

Blythe Klipple

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE

We continue to monitor news of COVID-19 and account for its possible impact to several business aspects that will affect demonstrators (manufacturing, transportation, travel, events, etc.). The health and safety of demonstrators and staff is important to us and we appreciate your partnership and patience as we work to address this global issue.

We are doing all we can to mitigate the impact to your business, including air freighting products when possible. Each week we will update the list below with the products in your market that we know will be (or already are) affected by these delays:

  • 102283: VersaMark Ink Pad
  • 100082: Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker
  • 101406: Jet Black StazOn Pad
  • 102193: VersaMark Ink Refill
  • 133456: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Refill
  • 132708: Memento Ink Pad Tuxedo Black
  • 151508: Saddle Brown StazOn Ink Pad

Memento and StazOn Ink

We have heard concerns about the continued delay on Memento and StazOn ink products. Back in February, we placed additional orders for these products and airfreighted inventory to our distributor in Washington, United States. Unfortunately, the inventory arrived in King County, Washington (where our distributor is located) just before the state of Washington shut down for quarantine. This county is still under strict guidelines and we do not know when the distributor will reopen and send the inventory to our North American distribution center. We will update you as soon as we receive additional information.

Product Production

Our manufacturer of ink refill bottles has been prioritizing the production of medical products, which means right now, our ink refill production is limited to the number of bottles currently at our Kanab facility. We expect production to be limited over the next several weeks, until our manufacturer is able to fulfill our orders for more bottles. In an effort to minimize the impact of these delays, there will be a limit on the following In Color ink refills:

  • Bumblebee Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 153122)
  • Cinnamon Cider Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 153120)
  • Just Jade Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 153121)
  • Magenta Madness Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 153123)
  • Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 153124)

These In Color refills each have a limit of one per order (demonstrator and customer orders). Even with the limits, there is still a chance some colors may go into backorder or Not Orderable status before we are able to replenish our inventory. We will remove these temporary limits as soon as we can.

Our manufacturing facility in North America continues to work overtime and operate on two shifts. However, with a delay between shifts, being understaffed, and working to train new workers, our capacity is lowered. Through all of this, we are working hard to minimize backorders of stamps, Classic Stampin’ Ink, and cardstock, but there will be backorders on these products in the coming months—especially as our ability to react quickly to unexpected product demands is hindered due to the current situation.

We are seeing delays in production from some of our North American suppliers as they make efforts to keep their employees safe as we have. They are all continuing to produce products and if that changes, we will let you know.

All the factories we use in China are up and running, but the COVID-19 outbreak has caused more delays than usual in our ability to replenish products. Air freight coming from China is also in high demand, making it difficult to expedite products.

    Shipping

UPS has suspended all shipping guarantees. This means you may not receive your packages on the days you expect. Even expedited shipments are seeing a one- to two-day delay. Please plan accordingly. For information about how UPS continues to respond to this situation, click here.

Our North American distribution center has returned to operating on one shift, Monday through Friday, in accordance with local regulations. We will continue doing all we can to get orders out as quickly as possible, but you may still see more shipping delays than normal during this pandemic. We are currently shipping orders about five to eight days out.

If our state or county moves to a higher-severity risk index, we will make the necessary changes to remain in compliance with local regulations. Please be patient with us as we work to balance the health of our employees with the needs of our demonstrators and customers.

    Canadian Deliveries

Due to the longer transit times for Canadian shipments, we are currently prioritizing Canadian orders. All orders may experience shipping delays based on the COVID-19 situation, however, we are doing everything we can to get shipments out in a timely manner. Please understand that there is also a current delay in transit time for all transportation carriers, including UPS; at this time, they are seeing an additional three to six day delay. We are working with UPS to clear up these delays and have asked that they communicate with us as the situation changes.

    Events

The Maui incentive trip is moving to May 2021. Our first-ever BackStage business conference for leaders will be held in August 2021. And this year’s November OnStage Live and Local events will be held virtually at some point during the dates already scheduled: 5–7 November 2020. There is still much uncertainty about the state of the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the coming year and people’s ability to travel in November, so we decided it’s in everyone’s best interest to move the event to a virtual platform.

Does anyone know about thisitem in the update?

"Our North American distribution center has returned to operating on one shift, Monday through Friday, in accordance with local regulations.

Why would local regulations allow only 1 shift, Monday-Friday?   Seems like less shifts and days would make it harder to follow COVID regulations since everything is crammed into one shift.  Maybe I am missing something.

I take it to mean that they are back to their regular shift schedule. They had gone to 2 shifts during SIP restrictions.

I interpreted that to mean that SU! is now working a regular 8 hour shift each business day.

Ok, I guess I misread this .   I was not aware that social distancing, cleaning, etc is no longer required for worker safety.

RE: SU!: UPDATES: June 9, 2020: Weekly Updates

    donnab07

Phyllis, those things may still be required, depending on local regulations.  But SU! “ continues to work overtime and operate on two shifts. However, we have separated the shifts by an hour in an effort to reduce COVID-19 exposure risk, which has caused a small decrease in production”.  Work schedules at SU! have not been usual for some time, so I’m sure the employees are glad that things are beginning to return to a more “normal”.
