WEEKLY UPDATES

                                                                                                                      28 July 2020

INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY ON THE ARTISAN DESIGN TEAM

Stampin’ Up! employees recently received this message in an email from Logan Sutherland, Stampin’ Up!’s Vice President, People and Culture: “Our first value, both on paper and in practice, is ‘We Care About People First.’ It’s part of what makes Stampin’ Up! special, and part of who we aspire to be. Right now in the world, particularly in the United States, important dialogue is happening that hits at the heart of caring about people first. As a company, we understand that discrimination against the black community is a painful and long-standing societal problem. Further, we unequivocally believe that discrimination against any person based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion is unacceptable in any form. Though we may fall short at times, we strive to exemplify all of our core values and we want to be even better. As a company, we want to work together on how to encourage greater diversity and inclusion for our employees, demonstrators, and customers.”

In our efforts to do even better, we want to intentionally work to include and highlight demonstrator experiences of all types, including demonstrators who are people of color or part of other underrepresented groups. We realize that in all areas of society and business it takes intentional effort to encourage diversity and inclusion and we know we have fallen short at times. One place we’re starting is with the Artisan Design Team. This team of talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the globe has the unique opportunity to influence trends and crafting throughout the world. They share projects with new products on their personal blogs and we also share their creations on Stampin' Up!'s Facebook page.

In May we opened the application for the 2021 team, and we’d like to reopen the application for two weeks in August to help ensure our new team is representative of diverse voices and faces within our Stampin’ Up! family.

Here are the details:

What: 2021 Artisan Design Team Application Reopened

Who: Demonstrators who are people of color or part of other underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply; however, all applications are welcome (note that if you already applied in May you don’t need to re-apply).

When: 3–14 August

How to apply: Complete the application here.

Requirements: Be an active Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in good standing, regularly post hand-stamped projects on social media, such as Instagram and Facebook, and regularly post hand-stamped projects on a personal blog (if you haven’t established these channels, you are welcome to create and post on them before you apply).

More information: To learn more about the Artisan Design Team, visit this page.

Thank you for all you do for our company, and thanks for helping us live our values to make Stampin’ Up! even better!

SCHOOL SUPPLY SALES TAX HOLIDAY

Ten US states will be offering a sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July or August. Products that are eligible according to the statute include “items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.” To see the names of participating states, products exempted from tax, and sales tax holiday dates, click here.

Please note that you must place your order with Stampin’ Up! during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax-free (which is midnight on the first day to midnight on the last day of the tax holiday). Also, keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday; the state statute may not apply to county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.

If you have customers who live in states who benefit from the sales tax holiday (yay!), be sure to give them a call and let them know.

Note: Georgia, Louisiana, and Wisconsin have suspended the sales tax holiday for this year.

NEW ONLINE STORE LAUNCH EMAIL SENT

We recently sent an email to demonstrators in your market containing information about the upcoming new online store launch. You may also reference the message here.

PRODUCTS SELLING ABOVE FORECAST

There is always a risk of products going into backorder during a demonstrator preorder or within the first few weeks after the customer launch. We do our best to forecast how you or your customers may react to new products, but sometimes we sell through our inventory much more quickly than we expect.

The following products are currently outperforming their initial forecast and are at risk of going into backorder or not orderable status before we receive additional inventory:

  • 153548: Snowflake Splendor 1/4" (6.4 mm) Ribbon
  • 153547: Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems
  • 153553: Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack
  • 153554: 3/8" (1 cm) Embroidered Ribbon
  • 153493: Mini Coffee Cups
  • 153527: Plaid Tidings 6" x 6" (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper
  • 153508: Mini Coffee Carrier

This information may create an even higher demand on many of these items, but we feel it’s better to let you know now so you can adapt your plans.

KEEP #SIMPLESTAMPING!

The joy of papercrafting is something we believe should be shared with everyone—and it’s the reason we started our #simplestamping campaign. By creating and sharing easy-to-make, inexpensive projects, our hope is to show beginner crafters how fun and easy papercrafting can be.

We’ve loved what you’ve been sharing, and we can’t wait to see more! We’re still sending surprises each month to a select number of participating demonstrators to thank them for posting their #simplestamping projects; have you shared yours yet? (Remember: We want as many people as possible to see your creation, so please share your card outside of the Demonstrator Planning Place to get as much exposure as possible.)

Here are the creative parameters for the next #simplestamping challenge:

August #simplestamping Challenge

Theme: Spooky/Whimsical

Supplies: Stamps, ink, paper, and Designer Series Paper

Remember to keep your project simple, share it using #simplestamping, and most of all—have fun!
