During the product spotlight presentations at November OnStage 2018, demonstrators showed off some samples created specifically with beginner stampers in mind. We’ve rounded up some of those samples and created a page to help you get inspired to introduce new stampers to the joy of papercrafting with Stampin’ Up! In addition, we’ve created a Pinterest board for the 2019 occasions catalog and posted the product spotlight samples for first-time stampers there as well.

Counterfeit Stampin’ Up! Products Q&A
As some of you may be aware, an e-commerce site called AliExpress has been selling counterfeit Stampin’ Up! products on their website. We want to say thank you to those of you who have reached out to us about this issue and give you a brief overview of the situation—and what we’re doing to resolve this ongoing problem.
Q: What is Stampin’ Up! doing to actively address this issue?
A: The compliance team in Demonstrator Support searches for counterfeit products on AliExpress and other similar sites (e.g., Ebay, Amazon, Etsy, etc.) on a daily basis. They are also researching counterfeit products reported by demonstrators to each of our Demonstrator Support offices.
Q: Why does this seem so difficult to fix?
A: Taking action against counterfeit Stampin’ Up! products is complicated and time-consuming. One of the biggest problems we face in addressing this issue is that once a counterfeit item has been removed, a listing for that same counterfeit item often appears with another store—or the same seller using a different name.
Q: Is the situation improving?
A: Yes! One positive aspect of this complicated process is that once we’ve gone through the reporting procedure with these sites for a product, the process for removing additional listings for that product is faster. We continue to learn from this challenge and explore our options for addressing these problems.
Q: Is there any information we should be sharing with our customers about counterfeit Stampin’ Up! products?
A: Yes. Make sure your customers know that counterfeit Stampin’ Up! products are low-quality and not up to our standards. Unfortunately, copyright infringement is rampant overseas, and the most effective way to stop it is for your customers to stop purchasing these second-rate, counterfeit products.

Paper Pumpkin Dimensionals
We’d like to take this opportunity to address recent concerns regarding the dimensionals in Paper Pumpkin kits. In addition, we’d like provide helpful information demonstrators can use to address the needs of their customers. This update will cover the following points:
Were January dimensionals defective?
What is Stampin’ Up! doing to address the issue?
Are Paper Pumpkin dimensionals different from Stampin’ Dimensionals?
What should we expect going forward?
1. Were January Paper Pumpkin dimensionals defective?
Shortly after subscribers received their January kits, we began to receive feedback regarding faulty dimensional adhesive in some of the kits. Specifically, the adhesive layer was not adhering to the foam center. Stampin’ Up!’s quality team immediately began an investigation to determine the cause and extent of the defect. After a thorough analysis of our inventory and an evaluation of the replacement requests received by our Demonstrator Support team, we discovered that only a portion of January kits had defective dimensionals. However, the defect was random and a single kit may contain both good and defective adhesives, thus making it difficult to identify the affected kits.
2. What has Stampin’ Up! been doing to address the issue?
Stampin’ Up! has an established process for addressing defective parts. At the core of this process, our quality team identifies the root cause of any defect and works with partners and suppliers to ensure that corrective actions are taken. Stampin’ Up! relies on proven analytical methods to assess the extent of any defect. In the event that a defect is found to be pervasive, Stampin’ Up! will proactively correct/replace the affected product(s). Where a defect is not pervasive and requires corrective action on less than 3% of sold products, Stampin’ Up! will work with customers on a case-by-case basis to provide replacement parts. January’s defective dimensionals were not pervasive; therefore, we have been working with customers individually to address the problem.
3. Are Paper Pumpkin dimensionals different from Stampin’ Dimensionals?
Stampin’ Dimensionals and Paper Pumpkin dimensionals come from different suppliers but our standard for quality and adhesive performance is the same. The difference in quality experienced in January is not due to a lower quality standard for Paper Pumpkin.
4. What should demonstrators/customers expect going forward?
After the defective adhesive was identified, the Stampin’ Up! quality team has been thoroughly checking the kits being developed as well as kits that are already in the supply chain. February kits have been evaluated and some incidences of defective dimensionals were detected; however, the rate of incidence is rare.
As always, we strongly encourage demonstrators to be in touch with their customers and quickly address any concerns that may arise. Anyone (demonstrator or customer) who is less than satisfied with their kit should contact our Demonstrator Support agents at 1-800-STAMP UP or email@example.com.
If the Stampin’ Up! quality team identifies a kit with a pervasive defect with the dimensional adhesive—either in development or in the supply chain—Stampin’ Up! will add dimensional adhesives to the kit as replacement parts for those that are defective. If this occurs, we will notify demonstrators so they can be aware of the corrective action.

Recruiting Webinar Series
As mentioned in the December 18 Weekly Updates, demonstrators from around the world will be hosting a series of webinars over the next few months that will focus on recruiting. The demonstrators presenting each webinar are the same demonstrators who presented recruiting classes at November OnStage 2018. Here are some additional details about the webinar series:
The webinar series will run January 16–March 6, 2019.
Each webinar will last for approximately 30 minutes.
Each webinar will be presented in the demonstrator’s native language.
Each webinar will be presented from the demonstrator’s location. (As a result, some of the webinar times may seem inconvenient.)
Each webinar will be recorded and available at a later date in the Recruiting playlist under Stampin’ University>Webinar Collection. The recorded versions will also include captions for English, French, and German.
