Stampin Seal

Kathy Slamar
Is anyone other than me having problems with this product?  I have tried lifting it straight up at the end like SU says, checking it like Fast Fuse as others have suggested, and everything else I can think of and it works about half the time.  Otherwise, I have to manually forward it.  I have had several customers try it, and only I said she like it.  I'm not sure what to do, since I can't offer SNAIL.

Re: SU!: Stampin Seal

I have watched several videos and am still disappointed. I am nowhere near recommending this to my customers. I am beyond frustrated and disappointed. If a product requires “so much care,” the average customer is not going to bother with it. I LOVE 95% of SU products; this one does not make my “recommendations list” list yet.

Hi Kathy and any one else interested,  I found this demo's video most helpful and it has made a difference for me.  I've also shared it with some customers and other demos I know.  Hope this helps.

Yes! The video made all the difference for me, too. Eventually, you don’t have to be so dramatic with it, but it helps to do so at the beginning.

I bought both the Seal and the Seal+ in the beginning. And I’m now using the Seal+ excusively when I want a tape runner. I had stopped using SNAIL completely a couple of years ago as it just didn’t hold up for more than a few days in our rainforest environment. I stocked up on Fast Fuse and still have some left. But I’m happy with the Snail+ and I haven’t had to watch any videos beyond the initial Stampin’ Up! introduction.

I share your frustration with the Stampin Seal. I’ve watched videos, followed instructions and still find myself about every 3rd application having to forward it manually. I also find that it is impossible for me to get it placed on small things like tags. I see that another video has been posted and I’ll watch that one. Seal Plus doesn’t seem to have these issues so maybe that is the answer for me.

I’ve watched that video and feel I’ve given it a fair try a number of times. I’m just not a fan. Not crazy about the size of the applicator or that the cap comes completely off either. You know that’s going to sprout legs and walk off...

I try to use as much SU product as I can - just can’t say I’ll be supporting this one. 😢

RE: SU!: Stampin Seal

Cindy McCool

Since my last message I have spent the entire time trying to get a stampin seal to actually  come out of the container.  I had to hand roll it a number of times and wasted too much time. Almost threw it out but it’s brand new! About the cap? Well, the first one I opened the cap broke the rolling mechanism off and SU had to send me another. I threw that cap away! I’m with you, guess I’ll go back to my ATG gun.

Re: SU!: Stampin Seal

In reply to this post by Kathy Slamar

Thanks for all the feedback and the video suggestion.  I will definitely try that.  I agree that the Stamping Seal+ is easier to use.  In the meantime, I am going to call DS and give them feedback.  I highly suggest we all do that if we are having problems with it.  It does get frustrating!

Thanks again for all the help.

Rather than lifting straight up, try bending your wrist forward (away from you) about 45 degrees before lifting. I have my customers "roll, bend, lift". Seems to work better for us.

Always looking forward to a stampin' good time!

Re: SU!: Stampin Seal

Beverly Derringer

I appreciate all the suggests for using the new tape runners.

Older customers (70-80) have a problem with the bend due to wrist problems. A class of four cards is not possible with this new tape runner. Glue is not always a substitution as squeezing the bottle is a problem. The retired tape runner works for them. They are now buying the tombow runners for now.

Looking for a way you don’t have to do the bend the wrist part.

Rather than lifting straight up, try bending your wrist forward (away from you) about 45 degrees before lifting. I have my customers "roll, bend, lift". Seems to work better for us.

Always looking forward to a stampin' good time!

I also watched this video before and found it very helpful. I do want to say that once I have used the SEAL more I find I am developing the right “muscle memory” to use it well. I LOVE how much stronger the hold is then SNAIL. Living in humid Florida, I had to put down a ton of SNAIL for things to hold. I find I only need a bit of the SEAL in the corners of a layer and it stays — so it will be much more efficient and cost effective in the long run as I won’t have to use as much. (But when needed, I can still do my trick of heating with the heat tool so I can pull up and reposition a layer).

I find that if I roll with light pressure, then make a slight forward, tilt up movement as I pull up, I get a clean break and do not have to roll the tape forward. I find this leaves the tape positioned well to start again. I also wish the cap was not separate but not much I can do about that. I kept the little bag and put it in there until I need it for traveling.

I also would love a tape that works intuitively without the need to train on how to use it — but I am finding that I am getting used to the SEAL and feel prepared to pass my tips on to my customers.

And the SEAL+ is great to hold more textured layers that have embossing and of course things where I would use Tear and Tape.

Hi Kathy and any one else interested, I found this demo's video most helpful and it has made a difference for me. I've also shared it with some customers and other demos I know. Hope this helps.

Catherine,
Thanks for that video.  I watched it and followed her suggestions and it worked perfectly.
I am calling SU today and suggest they pay that dear demo a fee and have her make a training video for them!  I was going to toss my Seal and now I will give it a chance.

I greatly appreciate all the help given but think SU blew it on lack os training on this one!

Re: SU!: Stampin Seal

Chris Occhipinti

I agree, Kathy.  This video was very informative, although with my wrist problems I cannot do the bend or snap or flick so will probably never use it.

At least I can refer any customers who purchase them to Bec's instructions, which I definitely appreciate.
