Stampin Seal

Kathy Slamar
Has anyone tried the new Stampin' Seal?  I'm having a problem with it and I tried two different cartridges.  It says to hold at 45 degree angle and when you get to the end release pressure and pull back.  In every case, I had to manually forward the tape the next time I used it.  I have had no problem with the Stampin Seal +.

I would be curious to hear others experience.
Thanks.

RE: Stampin Seal

Robin Messenheimer
In reply to this post by Kathy Slamar

I just now opened my Stampin’ Seal and Stampin’ Seal+. I used both on a card and found both really easy to use. One thing I should say is that I have continued to use Fast Fuse as my adhesive of choice when making cards in the privacy of my craft room. I ordered a big stash when it retired and then during the short window they had it open afterwards. So I’m still not out of the FF, but getting there. Now that I see how the Stampin’ Seal works, I’m relieved to be able to use a Stampin’ Up! product, other than Multipurpose Glue, out in the open.

I’m happy to hear this, Robin.  I’m also a fan of FF, and stocked up.  I still have plenty, that I use in “secret”, but like you, it will be nice to have something I can use in class!

Re: SU!: Stampin Seal

Catherine Harwood
In reply to this post by Barbara Stitt

The Stampin SEAL resources are publicly available links so I am listing them here for anyone who needs to find them easily. No log in needed.

This is the Q&A document:

And here is the Stampin Up YouTube video link — it does not show him rolling the SEAL but it does show him opening the case to change the product and he mentions a lot of good tips.

Those are both links that can be shared with customers as they are public links.

Hope that helps someone. I have ordered SEAL and am waiting for it to arrive. I noticed that a big tip shared in the video and the Q&A is to use the SEAL with light pressure — no need to press hard and that might help with it breaking or rolling back on itself.

On the front page of the website under the picture of the new catty click on Learn More.  Then scroll down to Product Training and click on Seal and Seal.

I saw the videos on the SU site before they were released, but can’t find
them now.  Can you tell me where to find them.

I would be nice if they provided a video showing tips to using the new products.

Thanks.

Kathy:

I shared a link to the full SEAL Q&A but I just re-read your question and noticed that you had mentioned holding it at a 45 degree angle. Not sure if that was on the package — but I did notice in the Stampin’ Up Q&A that it says to hold it in flat position against the paper. Here are the troubleshooting tips copied in from that Q&A PDF.

Stampin’ SEAL or Stampin’ SEAL+ Troubleshooting
• The tip of the adhesive runner should be in a flat position against the paper; avoid using it on an angle.

• Once the laydown of the adhesive is complete, stop and pull the adhesive straight up. Avoid pulling the adhesive back to separate it from the paper.

• If the adhesive won’t advance and the trail breaks off, add slight pressure to get it rolling again. You may need to use your finger to advance the adhesive.

• Stampin’ SEAL and Stampin’ SEAL+ create a strong adhesive bond. When using more fibrous papers, paper tearing may occur. If the paper tears and rolls into the adhesive, it will not ruin your adhesive roll. Stop and adjust your location and angle before proceeding with a slow and lightly controlled stroke.

• Similar to what you may have experienced with SNAIL or Fast Fuse, it is possible for Stampin’ SEAL and Stampin’ SEAL+ to roll back on itself or jam. This can happen with any roller adhesive. If it occurs, we recommend stopping the adhesive laydown and adjusting the roll manually before proceeding. Using slow and controlled strokes is advised.

Thanks, Catherine!  I appreciate everyone’s input.  I will have to go practice!!  I must admit I never got the hang of Fast Fuse, so maybe it’s me!
