SU!: Silhouette Questions

Brenda Crawshaw

As many of you have probably seen there are some great deals on Silhouettes. Can someone tell me what the difference is between a Cameo and a Portrait? Do I need both? Or which is better for use with MDS? Many thanks! Brenda

SU!: RE: Silhouette Questions

Basically the portrait is smaller  and doesn’t handle larger size papers, etc.

If you want to cut words/titles or boxes it is great to have the Cameo with the 12” cutting mat.  I love mine.  For years, I had the smaller size and couldn’t always cut the files that I wanted to use....so for the difference in price, if you can afford it, go for the Cameo.  You won’t have to upgrade later.  LOL  You can place different color papers all over the mat to cut different files at the same time.  Saves time and uses scraps.

Even if you just do cards, you can cut fancy cut cards with the 12 x 12 mat.  JMHO  Enjoy the sales.  Lots of free files out there for the Silhouette machines plus all the ones in MDS.
