Question for you about DD retired stamps

Jan Farring

So I have a bunch of the Definitely Decorative stamps from years ago; I
have them up for sale and a gal asked me about using them to paint on
walls.

What "ink" or medium would you/did you use for this.  I never did use it
for that - just for making projects with paper

Thanks for any advice

RE: SU!: Question for you about DD retired stamps

Krista Pomeroy

I used inexpensive craft paint when I stamped a border on my walls.
Put the paint on a disposable plate, put the paint onto the stamp with a foam brush. Keep a wet rag close because the paint will dry quickly. Every few "stampings" clean the stamp off.

Use anything she wants! J We used to use these with acrylic paints and fabric paints pretty often. Just takes practice

I did this a lot!!  I too used Acrylic Paints, however, rather than stamping on the walls, I stamped on clear contact paper, cut the shapes out and placed them on my wall where I wanted them.  This way when I got sick of them, all I had to do was peel them off. Easy Peasy!!

Re: SU!: Question for you about DD retired stamps

Catherine Harwood
In reply to this post by Jan Farring

I painted many walls and wood tables with DD stamps. My trick was to put a little acrylic paint on a disposable plastic plate that would not soak up the paint. Cover with a wet piece of natural muslin cloth -- the wet keeps the paint from drying. Then press on top of the muslin with the stamp until the paint comes up through the fabric's fibers -- almost like a paint "ink pad." it coats the stamps great. If I needed to take a break I put the whole plate in the freezer and then would take it out and let it warm a little and it would still be useable. If the muslin fibers get clogged -- just peel off and add a new piece.

My daughter's room still has her DD butterflies on it from when it was her nursery and she turns 16 in mid May!!
