PHP and WordPress Blogs

Blythe Klipple

Another "oh help/clue me in" question:

Does anyone use PHP on their WordPress Blog? From the blog that I do for my local community, not my biz WP blog:   PHP is the programming language we use to build and maintain WordPress. Newer versions of PHP are both faster and more secure, so updating will have a positive effect on your site’s performance.

I need to update it but don’t really know why I’m using it at all.  Long story but it got installed on the blog (MiWukAreaNews.com) and needs to be updated but my new co-administrator can’t seem to log in on his computer and I don’t want to take the time on mine.  Seems snarky but I just don’t have time right now to learn and understand a new ‘language’.  It DOES make the blog secure however, like httpS.

So now that you’re all confused does anyone use this configuration?  Thanks for any response I might get.

Re: SU!: PHP and WordPress Blogs

Blythe,

It needs to be updated because your wordpress blog uses php to run. You yourself don't need to learn anything it just needs to be updated.

Recent updates to wordpress added a check to see what version of php your server is running and if you are running an older version it will show a warning. It is doing this because new versions of php are more efficient and secure.

Check with whoever you have your blog hosted through and they should be update the php on the server for you.

Hope that helps.
Holly
