Kickoff Question - Stamparatus

Nola Burkhard
Hi Guys,
I want to showcase the Stamparatus at my upcoming catty kickoff.  Most of my gals are fairly experienced stampers but I know this is a bit advanced for others.

I want to use 4 stamps for one card. I have a sticky note where they should place the layer they are going to stamp on, and am planning on demonstrating how to use it using both plates - BOTH sides of the plates.

My questions are - 1) should I clean the stamps when I'm all done and tell them to do the same (that means they'd have to clean them with baby wipes and let them dry. 2) should they leave the stamps where they are on the plates or take them off so everyone has to reposition them each time?

Lastly, it seems the stamps are falling off the side of the plates that don't have the texture on them. I have put a tiny bit of snail on those stamps so they stick better to those plates.  They are clear stamps, not photopolymer. Do you think this is a good idea?

What do you think????
Thanks much, Nola

Re: SU!: Kickoff Question - Stamparatus

First off, Nolan, I want to thank you for laying out a good outline for a class with the stamparatus.  I think it will work great BUT I have not practiced enough with mine yet.  Would like info on the snail idea.   I think, also, that having you place the stamps and leaving them placed for one or two times, then taking them off and selectively choosing one of your more tool-oriented students to place the stamps again might be more beneficial to teach about the stamparatus.

Re: SU!: Kickoff Question - Stamparatus

Kathy Slamar

I would have them clean the stamps and wipe them dry with a microfiber towel after cleaning.  I do that and it works well.  I buy cheap ones at the dollar store.  I like to clean them often, because
ink seems to get on the plates and although it doesn’t go on the card, I often put my fingers on it!

If you demonstrate how to position the stamps, why not just leave them in place instead of having everyone reposition I think that is one of the great advantages.  Once they are in place you can stamps several cards.

As for the clear stamps falling off, all I can say is I hope SU gets this problem solved soon.  I know they are trying a new cling stamp in Japan.  My customers complain about our clear stamps all the time!
If you don’t have the label attached to the stamp, they seem to stick better.  Since you are using the Stamparatus and don’t have to reposition all the time, try it without the label  Otherwise, I use Hermafix.
We don’t sell it, but it is temporary and removes easier than SNAIL.

RE: SU!: Kickoff Question - Stamparatus

Brenda Crawshaw
In reply to this post by Kathy Slamar

Great suggestions!

As far as clear mount stamps I have found that trimming the sticker VERY close leaves some margin of sticky around the edge. If that’s not enough I add s few tiny dabs of Tombow liquid adhesive (which we do sell) and smear it around, let dry and then I have some repositionable “stick”. I agree that it’s a total PITA and hope the solution is on the horizon!

             Hi Guys,

I want to showcase the Stamparatus at my upcoming catty
kickoff. Most of my gals are fairly experienced
stampers but I know this is a bit advanced for others.

I want to use 4 stamps for one card. I have a sticky note
where they should place the layer they are going to stamp
on, and am planning on demonstrating how to use it using
both plates - BOTH sides of the plates.

My questions are - 1) should I clean the stamps when I'm
all done and tell them to do the same (that means they'd
have to clean them with baby wipes and let them dry. 2)
should they leave the stamps where they are on the plates or
take them off so everyone has to reposition them each time?

Lastly, it seems the stamps are falling off the side of the
plates that don't have the texture on them. I have put a
tiny bit of snail on those stamps so they stick better to
those plates. They are clear stamps, not photopolymer.
Do you think this is a good idea?

 What do you think????

 Thanks much, Nola

I have been using snail for years on my stamps to keep them from sliding off blocks and would assume the same for my stamparatus.  For starters... you can remove the "excess" snail fairly easy without damage to the stamp or the block.  Second it really ensures no slipping even when cleaning.  I have a lot of customers that complain about stamps not sticking to the blocks, and once shown this trick, they have a new best friend.

Off the stamps, nothing, that leaves them "sticky" for the next time until they are no longer sticky enough to stick.

But you can also use a pencil eraser if you need to.  The snail sort of rolls off when it is attached to something "slick"

Re: SU!: Kickoff Question - Stamparatus

mudmaven

I use the "dotto" adhesive we used to carry as it is fairly easy to remove from both stamp and block.  I have managed to find refills at a local craft store, but really don't like using these and have resorted to not putting the decals onto the stamps in the first place to avoid this problem.  Other companies have managed to find ways to imprint the image onto the back of the stamps and I am hoping that SU will find a way to do this as well.

Hi Guys,
I want to showcase the Stamparatus at my upcoming catty kickoff.

Window box framelits

In reply to this post by Jennie Dietrich

I am quite surprised that they don’t have ANY samples that I can find in the new catty that feature the Window Box die set. Not sure why they kept it if there’s no longer a stamp set that goes with it.
😔 sigh!

It's great with designer paper, a variety of other die cuts and stamp sets.  If you go to my blog or google the window box thinlits, you can see lots of ways it has been used without the current coordinating stamp set.

The Shammy will be coming out in June, you can use that for a quick clean wipe and we sell it!  And we don’t have to wait for drying time 😊

Blessings,

Lois
