Inconsistencies between retiring list and new Catalog

Robin Messenheimer
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed some inconsistencies between the retiring list and the new catty. I'd love if you would share anything you've found. Maybe that would help all of us if we could compile a list in one place?

Anyway, I'm at the point of marking my dies and embossing folders and found Woodland Embossing Folder in the retiring list with no asterisks. But that folder IS in the new catalog.

I also found all this very confusing.  So....I called Stampin' Up about the dies with no asterisks on the Retiring List showing up in the new catalog.  I was told that dies like Nature's Roots, Layering Circles, Layering Squares, & Layering Ovals have been reconfigured.....that is to say, made differently to work in the new Die Cutting/Embossing machine coming out in June.  I asked if the new dies would work  with the Big Shot.  I was told that I may need to add shims or make some adjustments to make the new dies work in our old machines.    I wonder if the "old" dies will work in the NEW machine?  Guess time will tell!

RE: SU!: Inconsistencies between retiring list and new Catalog

Robin Messenheimer

Now that I’m into the dies, I’m finding lots of them with no asterisks. One that was really confusing was that “Be Mine Stitched” is in the retiring list. But “Stitched Be Mine” – same set, new number – is in the new catty. I wish they’d have put asterisks on the dies.

RE: Inconsistencies between retiring list and new Catalog

Lois Folla
In reply to this post by Robin Messenheimer

I personally loved how they said, the aqua painters were retiring on a page with stamp sets, but in the back of the book, it was not listed as retiring. They are in but the  name is changed… Still more inconsistencies.

My friend and I each went over our catalog and marked the retied items going out and then we talked together to get it 100%... and we were able to . Why can’t SU!? I love SU too, I’ve been with them since 2000….

I still saw so many NEW sets going out from the annual catalog. I thought a promise was made to us, that all new sets would be in the catalog for at least two years. Well, that promise when on the waist side… too, sadly…

I’m afraid the current dies that are going into the new catalog will have issues, because they aren’t being changed like some of them. Maybe they are planning on retiring them in a year and don’t think it’s worth the investment on us… UGH!

Sorry, just thinking out loud.  Thanks!

I was also confused by the location of aqua painters on the list.  The petal path dies were listed in a strange place, as well.

I also wish they would add an extra column in the Excel spreadsheet for the (EN) and (FR) designation, so we could easily sort and delete the ones we don’t need.  I’ve sent an email to DS about this one.

The aqua painters are going to be significantly different.  There are three, a fine point, medium, and a wide brush for washes.  Definitely not the aqua painters we have now.

I just received my 15 year pin and every year at this time I always see many changes in how SU! Redoes the annual catalog. At first I found it very confusing, but now, after more thought it seems to make more sense.
Maybe because we are an international company they try to make it more understandable for other cultures?
Just a thought.

I was able to use the “Filter” in Excel, focusing on the description column. I just filtered for all rows that had (FR) in that column and then deleted them all.

I was able to use the “Filter” in Excel, focusing on the description column. I just filtered for all rows that had (FR) in that column and then deleted them all.

Thanks!

But I still wish they had asterisked it. I’m going to keep the old one. I’ve got $$$ I want to spend on other things.

When I checked just now I saw the old Woodlands embossing folder measures 6 x 6.  The new folders are 6 x 6 1/4. It looks like all of the new folders are 6 1/4"
