Foil sheets

grantj

Has anyone stamped on the foil sheets? If so, what ink did you use? Staz-on, Momentous, classic black (which I still have but don’t use)?

Re: SU!: Foil sheets

Jeanne Walsh

Hi Jan.
On page 21 of 1Q2019 Stampin' Up! Success Magazine, there is a chart called 'The Right Ink'. While it doesn't say anything about foil sheets specifically, I would think that product would fall into the nonporous surfaces category like Window Sheets, vellum, and cellophane bags. For those products it says we should use StazOn.

I would love to hear the results if you do try stamping on the Foil Sheets.

Re: SU!: Foil sheets

Nancy Hoetker

I have stamped on them with StazOn before…just like with any slick surface one has to be careful of the stamp slipping, and to be sure the ink is fully dry to avoid smearing.

I stamped on the Black Foil Sheets with Whisper White Craft ink and it took days and days and days to fully dry, even with using the heat tool…and still kinda smears a bit, so I don’t recommend that!

Re: SU!: Foil sheets

Judi Carpenter

I just tried stamping on the Black Foil sheets with Versamark and then embossing with white.  I'd used my Embossing Buddy on the foil first, but still had to brush a lot of embossing powder away.  I stamped with the multiple tree image from Winter Woods (because I adore that stamp!).  It looks very nice; I haven't finished a card using it yet.  I'd recommend stamping with simpler images for better results and ease of use.

Tonight I used plain old (??) Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink (after swiping the Grapefruit Foil (SAB) with the embossing buddy) to stamp the cake stand and then sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it.  Got my color and got no smearing.
