FW: SU!: RE: Tiles/Coaster

Coleen Astalos

Anyone know why Staz-on would come off these coasters that Beverly stamped with Staz-on?

It comes of with condensation.  I was very surprised and embarrassed since I made some for home and some for gifts.  They were very cute, the print just didn't stay.

First of all, I'm surprised that the Staz-on is coming off.  I would think on a porous surface like this the stazon wouldn't be coming off.  What type of condition is it coming off in?  Water, heat, etc..

If you seal a tumbled tile, then it's not going to absorb the water anymore.  So let's see if we can figure out why your staz-on is coming off in the first place.

What types of tiles are you stamping on - glossy or unfinished (like the thirsty stones)?

This will make a difference on what you'd want to put on them.

I am new to sudol and wondering if anyone know what spray or covering can be applied to coasters to keep there stamped image. I have used Stazon, heated in the oven but the image comes off in a short time. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Did she seal it before stamping?  That wouldn't allow the staz on to adhere to the coaster.

Re: FW: SU!: RE: Tiles/Coaster

Ellen

I have some that the regular color faded, but the black stazon has not.
Were the tiles dust free, it the pad juicy enough, did she let it dry or
even bake it.

That is all I have

Comments- I made coasters using the same tiles last year but found it was necessary to spray one light coating of Krylon Matte finish to keep the ink from fading.  Stazon worked best but there was still a fading issue, Krylons defeated purpose of absorbing condensation but coasters looked nice.  Am using Omni gel to create transfer of images printed from MDS to put onto tile coasters.  So far it seems to work.  Will let you know if it's successful and will share technique next week.
