The BEST platform for anyone wanting to leverage content as a foundation for a business is self-hosted WordPress. I could list ZILLIONS of reasons why but the main ones are:
- it is, overall, the most cost effective way to have an online "home base" as most of the software that runs on it is free or low cost compared to other platforms; - it is the platform that offers the most integrative opportunities meaning adding things like e-commerce, CRMs, etc. is seamless and effective; - it is built on open source code meaning there are thousands and thousands of no- or low-cost themes, plugins and integrations to allow you to have an incredibly robust site with a very lean profile; - it is, by far, the best platform for SEO meaning content posted on sites built on WP almost always outperform that on other sites when optimized correctly; - it is slightly more complicated to learn than drag and drop but the ROI is significantly faster and better than with other sites.
Truly, the ONLY thing you HAVE to pay for is hosting which is minimal, especially in the first year since so many hosting companies offer a huge discount in the first year. (I have had excellent results with SiteGround and use them for all my sites. Plus they offer one click WP install and will migrate one site for free.)
Am happy to chat more about this if there are more questions.
