Awesome lineup for this Month's Newsletter Co-op

Don't miss the opportunity to participate!

We have some great articles in the works for this month's newsletter co-op.  These articles are only available to the members who participate by sharing an article with the co-op.   Here is a partial list of what we've got coming this month...

- Three new product highlights

- Two business articles

- Three different technique articles

- Card sample

- plus more!

It's not too late to participate.  You have until Next Thursday (8/20) to sign up and write your article.  Here are some ideas of what we can still use...  (First come first serve!)

- Scrapbook Sample

- Article about scrapbooking or My Project Life

- Card sketch & sample

- Pattern or Project - Any non-card item.  You can even pick one from the SUDSOL site and update with a new sample.

- Tips or Tricks

Want more ideas? More suggestions can be found here: http://forum.sudsol.org/Newsletter-Topic-Ideas-td21261.html

What is a Newsletter Co-op you ask?  It's where members each write just a single article to submit to the co-op and then have access to all the articles written by everyone else!   So you have a whole bunch of articles to pick and choose from to send to your customers.  You do NOT have to put them all into a newsletter format!  You can just email them individually to your customers as the month goes along.  It's a great way to keep your name in front of your customers all month long.

Are they long and complicated?  No!  Just like you don't want to read through a long email from someone, neither do your customers!  The articles are short and sweet, yet with interesting information that will prompt them to shop with you!   Articles cover various topics such as product highlights, card or scrapbook sketch/sample, techniques, stamping tips, business opportunities and more!

Try it out for March - you are only committing to participate one month at a time - so you have nothing to lose but a number of articles to gain!

To join email newsletter@sudsol.com with the topic you want to write about (to prevent overlaps) and wait for an OK on your topic.  Then send your completed article by Feb 20th to receive access to all the articles submitted for the month.  All the nitty-gritty details/guidelines can be found here: http://forum.sudsol.org/Guidelines-for-Newsletter-Co-op-td22510.html

If you can write an email to your customers, you can write an article for
the Newsletter Co-op!  We're not looking for long winded articles, we are
looking for short informative pieces that your customers would enjoy
reading.

It really isn't that hard.  Email me if you want to try it out for a month.

It would be nice to see a sample newsletter to get an idea about the articles; some of us first-timers need models or glimpse of where we might want to go. Have I missed where I could see one? My understanding is that if I don't contribute, I can't see it. Is that accurate?

RE: SU!: Awesome lineup for this Month's Newsletter Co-op

Brenda Crawshaw
Something I suggest when you are starting out putting out a newsletter is to
choose 4-6 "modules" or topics that you want to offer EVERY month.  So for
instance, you will almost always have an SU! promotion and your events
updates, so that's two already.  Then you likely want to add a project;
that's three. And then a tip or a "customer" Q&A would bring you to four.
If you wanted to add a scrapbook page, a technique, a color combo, etc, you
can see how your "modules" can add up quickly and easily.

Then you set up either draft newsletters for future months in your broadcast
client, in folders in your computer, on your calendar, what have you.  Then
as you come across various things that fit the bill you can drop them into
the "folders" for each month's issue.  You might get so efficient at this
that you might find your newsletter content all ready to go, just needing
timely commentary and details!

One thing that is very important is to make sure that all your "modules"
reflect your written voice. This may require some editing of canned content
on your part but customers will KNOW when it's you "talking" and you want to
make sure they get to know you AND that you sound consistent through all
your outlets.

You can see some samples here: http://forum.sudsol.org/Sample-Newsletter-Articles-td7888.html

In our newsletter co-op, we focus on the content - not a completed newsletter.  Allowing you the flexibility to use the articles the way you want.  You can do as Brenda suggested and create a single "newsletter" with them (picking and choosing what you want) , or you can use them individually to keep in contact with your customers more frequently than once a month.

Based on what I'm receiving from other organizations via email, most have gone to a weekly (or more frequent) smaller content than a larger single item once a month.  The advantage of that is that your name stays in front of the customer on a more regular basis.  The disadvantage is if you overdo it (like some places do where they send them DAILY) then it may be too much for your customer and they may unsubscribe altogether.  So personally, I think moderation is the key - once a week makes sense to me.
